Florence and the Machine - Dog Days Are Over
This song is a MUST download. I’m loving it so much. Originally recorded in 2008, “Dog Days Are Over” comes from Florence and the Machine’s debut album, Lungs, which also features “You’ve Got The Love”, a song I posted about a few months ago. The flow of this song is incredible - starting slow & soft, then rapidly gaining momentum, only to return to the slow softness. It’s just a constant back & forth that would make for an amazingly creative music video. Florence and the Machine are an indie pop band from London & I am definitely checking out their album - as should you!

Back & Forth
Fedde Le Grand & Mr. V - Back & Forth
I was really expecting not to like this song, but it has grown on me quite a bit and I find myself listening to it over and over again. I don’t know whether it’s the infectious beat or the repetitive lyrics “back…. forth…. back…. forth” - maybe it’s both?! Either way, I’m liking it! And you will too, so give it a listen. For those of you that are unfamiliar with Fedde Le Grand, he is a Dutch dj from the Netherlands. Some of his previous jams include “Let Me Think About It”, “The Creeps”, & “Put Your Hands Up 4 Detroit”. Someone needs to make up a really fun dance to the song!

“Ha! You know I act silly, but not, look, really.”
Starry Eyed (Remixes)
Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed (Velos Wild Eyed Edit)
I’m really liking this remix! It’s a little faster than the original & there are just the right amount of subtle changes to where it’s not overdone. Ellie Goulding is an English singer-songwriter that released her debut album Lights just this week. I first posted about her in the Fall with her song Under The Sheets, which is also a good listen. Definitely one to watch!

This Too Shall Pass
OK Go - This Too Shall Pass (Passion Pit Remix)
I didn’t really get a chance to listen to the original all that much, but I’m really digging this Passion Pit remix of OK Go’s new single “This Too Shall Pass”. It comes from their 3rd album, Of the Blue Colour of the Sky, that was released a couple of months ago. Now I don’t know about you, but I’m currently going through a pretty rough time & so a song like this really gives me that push to keep going. I’ve seen two music videos for the song & one is just AMAZING. You have to watch it. I’ve come to expect nothing less from OK go & now I impatiently look forward to what music video they come up with next. Give the song a listen & the music video a watch - they won’t disappoint!
“Let it go this too shall pass. You know you can’t keep letting it get you down.”
DJ E - Intro Like This (The xx vs Mims)
I love this mash up. I never liked Mims’ “Like This” until now - and all it took was a little bit of The xx. Thank you DJ E!

Reni Lane - Place For Us (Monsieur Adi Remix)
I just heard this song last night & am instantly liking it… a lot. Her major label debut, Ready, will be released March 16. If the rest of the songs on the album are anything like this one, then I’m officially excited! Monsieur Adi is an electronic music producer/mixer that comes to us from Milan, Italy.

Flashback Friday: The Cure - It’s Friday, I’m In Love
Welcome to Flashback Friday - musically of course. So we’re all different ages & everyone discovers really good (and really bad unfortunately) music at a different times in their lives. So I thought about it & came to the conclusion that I should dedicate a day to music from the past that I am just now loving & music that I loved in the past that others may have missed out on. And that’s how Flashback Friday came to be! The Cure’s “It’s Friday, I’m In Love” has the honor of being my first song pick - simply because it makes me happy that it’s Friday even though I’m not in love. I’m in love with it being Friday because of this song. So I guess I am in love. Whataya know.
“I don’t care if monday’s blue
Tuesday’s grey and wednesday too
Thursday i don’t care about you
It’s friday i’m in love…”
Ke$ha - Take It Off
I don’t like Ke$ha, but I do like this song. I don’t like Ke$ha because she appears to be this manufactured pop singer created to counter Lady Gaga that her record label is banking off of. There’s no originality & what the hell is with the dollar sign in her name? It’ll be interesting to see where she goes next. Everyone was calling Gaga a one hit wonder & look at her now. She’s got a lot to prove to me as an artist if she wants to be ok in my itunes. Anyway, if there’s one good thing to take away from her album, Animal, it’s “Take It Off”. The song is fun, catchy, & will hopefully be her third single so I can make a music video to it - as long as it doesn’t interfere with Britney’s first single rumored to be due next month!
“When the dark
Of the night comes around
That’s the time
That the animal comes alive
