I just downloaded this remix a couple of days ago because it was at the top of a blogger’s top songs of 2009 list. I really like it so far, but I definitely need to give it a few more listens before I know whether I love it or not. High Contrast is the stage name of Lincoln Barrett, a Welsh drum & bass DJ & producer. And Tiesto is, well, the greatest DJ in the world (in my opinion).
If you haven’t jumped on the OneRepublic bandwagon, now’s a good time to do it. I haven’t been this obsessed with a band since Coldplay, & well, you saw what happened to them. Not to say that OneRepublic will see the same phenomenal success that Coldplay has had, but their music is equally as good, if not better. If you’ve been following this blog then you know that I have a great deal of love for Ryan Tedder & that this is the 4th song off of the Waking Up album that I’ve posted. I don’t believe the album is doing too well commercially, but that won’t stop me from promoting it because the music on it is amazing.
3 6 Mafia featuring Tiesto, Flo Rida, & Sean Kingston - Feel It
This song is brillz. Congratulations to 3 6 Mafia, Flo Rida, & Sean Kingston for collaborating with the genius that is Tiesto. Although, since 3 6 Mafia have won an Oscar for their music, I guess I must give them some credit as well. I’m just loving that these incredible DJs/Producers are starting to go more mainstream (David Guetta earlier this year). It sucks because you don’t feel as close to them as a fan, but they are getting the success & exposure they’ve deserved for some time. So yeah, have a listen & let me know what you think - innovative at all or just the same ‘ol same?
So my favorite new song from Rihanna isn’t even on her album, Rated R. It’s from the digital short she was a part of on last week’s SNL. The song is funny, but it’s also quite catchy - I found myself singing some of the lines after I watched the video a couple of times. My favorite parts are: “speak up” & “move the mic away from yo face”. The Lonely Island once again does a really great job of mixing music & humor.
Kerli - Walking On Air (Armin Van Buuren Club Mix)
So this song’s an oldie (about a year & a half old), but that doesn’t make it any less good. It’s creepy, but creepy in a good way. The verses almost sound like that nursery rhyme “There Was A Crooked Man”, which is just great. Strange & unusual is completely fine with me. Kerli is a singer from Estonia while Armin Van Buuren is an amazing DJ from the Netherlands.
"She will go & set the world on fire… no one ever thought she could do that."
I posted a Lady Gaga Medley by the very talented Sam Tsui earlier today & now I have a download link for it. I’m not sure if there’s a legal way to acquire Sam’s music, so please let me know if there is. This is just fucking brilliant. He uses the integrity that Lady Gaga is known for & combines all of her hit singles into one bad ass medley. He would be PERFECT for American Idol because he knows how to take existing music & make it his own - this is a whole new song. But you know what, screw that - I’d say he has enough of a following now that he’s totally capable of make it big on his own. If I were American Idol, I would be seeking out him.
I love this song. Not sure there’s much else to say about it. It reminds me of this scene from a movie I saw in film school - I can’t remember the name of it. But, in it a girl & two guys did this really simple dance over & over again. I loved it, I wish I could remember what the film was called. Comment if you know what I’m talking about. Just so that you know a little bit about the artist you’re listening to: The xx is a band from London that four 20 year olds formed in 2005. Last month, the keyboardist decided to leave & so now there are only three of them.
I’m baaaack!!! I apologize for the absence, but I’ve had a lot going on with flimmaking & whatnot. So I was looking for unsigned artists for my reality show, which I’m about to launch new episodes for starting Friday… One of the artists responded & allowed me to use his song. And. I. LOVE. it. Not even kidding. I wish I could have the readership that Perez Hilton has because I think this artist has great potential. His name is J. Beale & the song is called “On E’. Now seriously, how many times have you felt like your heart was on empty? The lyrics are great, the beat is great, the song will be featured in episode 6 of In The Loop, the first of 8 new episodes - uh get ready. If you like this song, please share - he is an independent artist & someone that I believe deserves to get some exposure. Let me know what you think!
